On January 19, a new federal district appeared on the map of Russia - the North Caucasus. It is separated from the Southern Federal District, and, according to the decree of President Dmitry Medvedev, it will include Dagestan, Ingushetia, Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachay-Cherkessia, North Ossetia, Chechnya and the Stavropol Territory. Pyatigorsk will become the center of the district.
