In Catalonia, on June 2, a new government was sworn in, formed following the results of the elections that took place in December 2017. Thus, the direct administration of Madrid, introduced in the fall, ended in the region. The government was headed by Kim Torra, a supporter of the independence of Catalonia, whose candidacy was proposed by the former head of the region, Carles Puigdemont, who is abroad.
