A new bishop of the Roman Catholic Church in Irkutsk has been appointed
On April 17, it was announced that St. Joseph in Irkutsk, Bishop Kirill Klimovich. Previously, this position was held by Jerzy Mazur, who was expelled from Russia on April 19, 2002. K. Klimovich was previously an auxiliary bishop of the Minsk-Mogilev Archdiocese, is a citizen of Belarus, and speaks fluent Belarusian, Russian, Polish and Italian. In May, the new head of the diocese arrived in Irkutsk. Kirill Klimovich will take office on June 15.
