Nationalist rally dispersed in Syktyvkar
On April 9, 2006, a traditional unsanctioned rally of local nationalists was dispersed in Syktyvkar. Police officers beat Yury Yekishev, leader of the Union of National Revival, detained several dozen demonstrators, and confiscated flags and issues of the "Stenogram" newspaper. The rally participants put up resistance, as a result of which many were injured. In addition, passers-by were beaten, as police officers beat all men under 30 years of age without explanation.
