In January 2011, investigators bodies of the Arkhangelsk region and the Nenets Autonomous Okrug initiated criminal case on inciting national and religious hatred (part 1 of article 282 Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The case was initiated against a 47-year-old from Severodvinsk, whom accused of posting on the Internet two xenophobic video.

On January 25, 2011, the Investigative Committee for the Republic of Buryatia announced that the investigation into the attack on the pastor of the Renaissance Church, Evgeny Medvedev, was ongoing. In relation to two residents of Ulad-Ude, brothers, criminal cases were initiated under article p.p. "a, c, g" part 2 of Art.

On January 25, 2011, police officers detained a 52-year-old resident of the village of Listvyansky, Novosibirsk Region, who called the Moscow office of one of the TV channels and demanded that a film crew come to him. The man threatened that if his demand was not met, he would blow up the mosque. There was no serious motive for this act - the man assessed his actions as a hoax.

In January 2011, the Kogalym City Court of Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug-Yugra delivered a verdict in the case of initiating a national hatred (part 1 of article 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The 22-year-old was in the dock a local resident who was accused of posting on his VKontakte page racist video "Execution of a Tajik and a Dag 2007 by the NSPR", listed in Federal List of Extremist Materials (p. 142, p. 265).

In January 2011, the Naberezhnye Chelny City Court of the Republic of Tatarstan issued a verdict in the case of a group of ultra-right incitement to national hatred was charged (Part 1, Article 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). January 25, 2011 in the city of Sterlitamak of the Republic Bashkortostan initiated a criminal case on inciting ethnic hatred (part 1 of article 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) against a 20-year-old local resident. Young man accused of posting around the city with a 19-year-old friend xenophobic leaflets with a photo of the deceased football fan Yegor Sviridov and calls for reprisals against ethnic non-Russians.

In January 2011, it became known that 17 December last year in St. Petersburg, in different districts of the city, were beaten two foreign students studying at the Pedagogical Institute: one visitor from Korea, and the second from China. Both victims were suddenly attacked company of teenagers who brutally beat them. About the robbery, none of cases have not been reported. Victims themselves say they were beaten just for fun, and they attribute it to the growth of xenophobia in Russian society.
