The case of “USSR citizens” is being investigated in the Samara region . In 2023, in the Samara region, criminal cases were initiated against N. Rukavishnikova, Ovchinnikov, Sintsov and Gainutdinov under Part 2 of Art. 282.2 of the Criminal Code (participation in the activities of an organization in respect of which the court has made a final decision to liquidate or prohibit activities in connection with the implementation of extremist activities).

On January 5, 2024, the icon of Andrei Rublev’s letter “Trinity” was delivered to the Moscow Cathedral of Christ the Savior from the restoration workshop, where it had been located after a summer visit to this temple. Initially, it was announced that the icon was brought for the duration of Christmas services, but then it became known that the shrine would remain in the temple until June 23, the holiday of Trinity. However, a special climate capsule for the icon has not yet been made.

The working group on counter-terrorism, anti-extremism and human rights of the Civil Solidarity Platform , led by the international organization ARTICLE 19 , specializing in protecting the right to freedom of expression, presents a report on anti-extremist policies in seven regions of the post-Soviet space - Belarus, Russia, Transnistria, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan in 2020–2023. The SOVA Center took part in this collective work.

On January 5, 2024, on the eve of Christmas, it became known that Archpriest Alexy Uminsky was removed from his post as rector of the Moscow Trinity Church in Khokhly and banned from serving. Archpriest Andrei Tkachev was appointed in his place.

In the Chelyabinsk region, a resident of Mirny was punished for a swastika on a fence and offensive words addressed to migrants Comrade . On January 10, 2024, an employee of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs department for the Sosnovsky district of the Chelyabinsk region reported that a minor resident of the village of Mirny had been prosecuted for two offenses. A minor on a fence near the migrants’ place of residence “wrote offensive words against them” and drew a swastika.
