On August 27, 2009, a criminal case was opened in Moscow against a 69-year-old pensioner who, from May 2008 to February 2009, encouraged his acquaintances to commit violence against people of “non-Slavic appearance” in a cafe-bar on Dekabristov Street. Unfortunately, it is not clear from the media under which article - 280 (public calls for extremist activity) or 282 (incitement of national hatred) the case was initiated.

On August 25, 2009, the St. Petersburg city court began a trial in the case of a group of young people who are accused of attacks motivated by ethnic hatred. There are more than 10 people in the dock who attacked visitors in early 2009. The group has three attacks and one kill. Among the victims are people from Africa, Central Asia and gypsies. One person died from his wounds. Several attacks were committed in the subway. The defendants also put up nationalistic stickers.

On August 25, 2009, the Supreme Court of Russia recognized the legality of the decision of the Chita Regional Court of July 9, 2009 to close the newspaper Russkoe Zabaikalye for repeated publication of extremist materials. The court considered the cassation appeal of the founder and editor-in-chief of the publication Alexander Yaremenko and left it unsatisfied.

In July 2009, the investigation department for the city of Kovrov (Vladimir region) initiated a criminal case under Part 1 of Art. 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation on the fact of posting from November 2008 to March 2009 on the Internet forum of the local network "Tritium" messages "containing statements aimed at inciting national hatred" . The messages were published under the pseudonym "Samael".

On August 27, 2009, the Tverskoy Court of Moscow sentenced 22-year-old Ivan Belousov, a 3rd year student of the Moscow State University of Communications, to six years in prison in the case of the explosion of a lamppost on Manezhnaya Square at the end of December 2007. The court found Belousov guilty under Art. Art. 213 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (hooliganism) and Art. 222 (illegal possession of explosives).

In the early morning of August 26, 2009, an arson was committed in Moscow in the building of the Kuntsevsky Investigation Department of the Moscow Department of the Investigative Committee under the Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation on Grishina Street. An improvised explosive device was planted through a broken window frame into one of the UPC offices. After the explosion, a fire broke out in several rooms on the ground floor. At the beginning of July 2009, in Kovrov (Vladimir region), on the walls of residential buildings 27 and 34 on Abelman Street, unknown people painted stencil drawings with the inscriptions "Russia for the Russians" and a six-pointed swastika with red paint spray cans. The investigative department for Kovrov initiated a criminal case under Part 1 of Art. 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (incitement of national hatred).

On August 27, 2009, a jury of the City Court of St. Petersburg, by a majority vote, found 22-year-old Vladimir Sosnikhin, accused of the murder of student Denis Edzauskis, guilty under Part 2 of Art.
